Bright Pink Lipstick Day & My Top 5 Bright Pink Lipsticks

Friday 28th September 2012 is Bright Pink Lipstick Day. As a lover of pink lipstick (the brighter the better) I had to share this great cause with you.

"Bright Pink Lipstick Day is an initiative run by Pink Hope to raise the profile of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer in Australia. While encouraging everyone to investigate their family history. Pucker Up and support Pink Hope! Wear Bright Pink Lipstick on the 28th of September" - Pink Hope

The idea behind Bright Pink Lipstick Day is

  • Share the positive message of Pink Hope
  • Encourage the community to raise funds
  • Bring attention to the effects of hereditary cancer
  • Encourage women to step out of their comfort zone and feel fantastic for the day

Cancer is a serious condition and we all need to be aware of it and raise as much money as we can to help research to cure this disease. Cancer, no matter the type is a horrible disease, I watched my beloved Grandad suffer and eventually succumb to cancer. It is something nobody should go through.

I decided to share some of my favourite bright pink lipsticks to give you some inspiration for tomorrow. I LOVE bright pink lipsticks and found it quite hard to pick out only five from my collection to show you (I have many more than 5). I tried to chose lipsticks from different price ranges and different finishes.

My top 5 bright pink lipsticks are:

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss in 20
This is the lipstick Kate Moss wears in the Rimmel advertisement. This is an amazing bright pink lipstick with a satin finish. It is beautifully pigmented and lasts well. It also feels really nice on the lips. It is a steal at $11.95 each.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in 090 Sweet Tart
As Revlon is a sponsor/partner of Bright Pink Lipstick Day I had to include a product from them. I love the Lip Butter's they are such an easy way to wear a bright lipstick. These retail for $21.95 each.

Clinique Chubby Stick in 15 Pudgy Peony
This is my latest Chubby Stick and I am in love with it. This is really moisturising and provides that subtle hit of a bright lip colour, perfect for those a little shy of bright lipsticks. This retails for $35.00.

Illamasqua Lipstick in Eurydice
This is a matte, bright hot pink and perfect for those full of confidence to pull it off. A little more drying than others but a beautiful colour. This retails for $25.00 thanks to Illamasqua's recent price drop (Yay for Illamasqua).

YSL Rouge Volupte Perle in 114 Sparkling Fuchsia
I had to include a high end lipstick in this list. After all this is Luxury on the Lips. This is a gorgeous shiny bright pink. It is also quite moisturising on the lips. This retails for $55.00.

The swatches above are in the same order as the lipsticks are listed. How beautiful do they all look? Gorgeous I say and that's how they would look on your lips.

I encourage you to get behind Bright Pink Lipstick Day, slap on your brightest pink lipstick, spread the Pink Hope message and if you can donate to Pink Hope here.

What is your favourite bright pink lipstick? Will you be wearing it tomorrow?

Lust Have It - September 2012

My September LustHaveIt pack arrived in my letterbox this morning. I again received the 'Fun & Flirty' pack. The bag this month is a gorgeous white silver, quite different from the previous month's.

The September LustHaveIt pack contains:

Dermalogica PreCleanse - 150ml $66.50
This is the first of two Dermalogica products in this months pack. This is a 15ml sample that from what I understand you use before you use a cleanser. Interested to try it, I have not tried much Dermalogica before.

Dermalogica Active Toner - 250ml $51.00
This is a 30ml sample of the toner in a spray bottle. Like I said before I haven't tried much from Dermalogica, it always seemed like a brand aimed more towards people with skin problems.

Davroe Styling Ultimatum - 200ml $19.95
This is a 50ml sample of a non aerosol hairspray. Non aerosol is a nice idea - better for the environment and all that. I have enjoyed previous Davroe products from LustHaveIt. This has a very strong alcohol smell though.

Mirenesse Protect Me Eclipse Age Defence Tinted Balm - 18g $69.00
This is a teeny tiny sample at only 1g and in a really cheap feeling piece of plastic. I am not sure what the idea behind this product is. If it is sunscreen than it is really low protection at SPF15 and I don't need anti-aging products yet. I am also getting a little sick of Mirenesse - it seems to pop up everywhere lately.

Say It With Scent Frangipani Hand & Body Lotion - 200ml $26.80
This smells really nice, exactly like Frangipanis without any chemically smell. Never heard of this brand before but it is a nice size 30ml sample. Saying that though, I need more body lotions like I need a hole in the head.

I also received a pair of pearl earrings from the brand Style Rocks. They came in many peoples packs last month for VIP subscribers. I later received an email from LustHaveIt saying as a member that has been subscribed since the beginning I was a VIP member and I would receive my gift in Septembers pack. They're nice earrings and a gift is always appreciated.

This months pack also includes some bonus offers. Dermalogica is offering a free Active Resurface 35 treatment valued at $90.00 but you must purchase $50.00 worth of products first. Davroe is offering a free styling product of your choice. Mirenesse is offering a free gift with redemption of a special code included in the pack.

Overall this month's box is quite good. There is a good variety of products included and good value, I just wish there was more make up products included!

What did you receive in your LustHaveIt pack? Same or different?

Oops I Went Shopping...

Yesterday, I went to Bendigo. Living in a small town I love the opportunity to get out of it and do some shopping where there is more than 5 shops. I thought I would share the beauty related items I purchased with you.

One of the first thing I picked up was the Hairhouse Warehouse Platinum Blitz Box. The pack I picked up contains; Goldwell Rich Repair Shampoo, Goldwell Rich Repair Conditioner, Goldwell Rich Repair 60 sec Treatment, RPR Make Me Shine Spray, a travel crimper, a shower comb and a $20.00 off any salon service voucher. This box is worth $130 but retails for only $29.95 making it a massive bargain!

I already have the shampoo, conditioner, treatment and shower comb in my shower. I probably won't use the crimper (who crimps their hair any more?!?) or the voucher. Only because I am rarely near a salon (plus I am not going to the hairdressers at the moment).

At Priceline I picked up two of Garnier's newest products, the Dark Spot Corrector and the new BB Cream. I couldn't resist the moisturiser as it came with a free soft toy Dalmation (so cute). I have heard great things about the new BB Cream. Even though it is for oily/combination skins I have been told it also works well on normal skin. It is a completely different formula from the original, so hopefully I like it more than the original.

I also picked up a couple of things from Sally Hansen at Priceline. I purchased a Complete Salon Manicure polish in 220 Cafe Au Lait which looks like a lovely neutral. I also picked up the new Salon Manicure Cuticle Eraser & Balm

Because I spent over $20.00 I qualified for a GWP that includes a Crackle Overcoat in 05 Distressed Denim, the Double Duty Strengthening Base & Top Coat, a Coarse Nail File and a cosmetic bag.

This year is Australis's 25th birthday (Happy Birthday!) and to celebrate they have released some limited edition products. I picked up the Nail Glitter Top Coat in Fairy Bread and the Colour Inject Mineral Lipstick in Lick the Icing. I also qualified for another GWP! This time it is a pair of fold able ballet flats in a pouch. I got the size 9-11 and was surprised that they actually fit my size 11 feet. I am planning on keeping these in the car in case of emergency (ie. painful high heels!).

I ran out of dry shampoo during the weekend and decided to pick up another Batiste Fresh Dry Shampoo one as I have found it to be the best. This time I am trying the Fresh scent as I find the Blush a little overpowering.

I picked up another of my favourite Artiste Brush Cleaner as I am starting to run low and cannot live without it now. It is just so handy.

As I was heading to the register I spotted the most adorable nail stickers. They are Kiss Nail Dress ones that are limited edition for Halloween. I couldn't resist the black and orange back grounds that have cats (cats!) on them. Super cute!

Revlon recently released a new collection for Spring or Summer (not sure). I was so excited to see it included three Photoready Cream Blushes as I am obsessed with them at the moment. I picked up the two brighter shades 200 Flushed and 300 Coral Reef.

At Myer I picked up one of the new shades of Clinique Chubby Sticks. I chose the shade 15 Pudgy Peony and it is a gorgeous bright pink. I am in love with it! I used a $20.00 MyerOne gift card towards it too, making it even more awesome.

I went into The Body Shop with the intention of only buying one of these Lip & Cheek Domes but... the sales assistant told me they would only be on sale for another week so I had to get them both. I did mention before how obsessed I am with cream blushes. The shades are 20 Pinch Me Pink and 21 Crazy for Coral.

When I was in Target, I was extremely excited to find 3 clearance bins. I spent a good 10 minutes digging through and managed to find 5 Bourjois Powder Blushes. They were only $4.00 each!!! That is 5 blushes for the cost of one at full price! OMG! It was worth getting my hands covered in make up. I wish I had had more time to dig through.

What have you purchased lately? Any great bargains? Tried any of these products?

Laura Mercier Lingerie Eye & Cheek Palette - Review

The Laura Mercier Spring 2012 - Lingerie collection appeared on the AdoreBeauty site a few weeks ago. I instantly fell in love with the Eye & Cheek palette. I had to have it and of course it is limited edition, so I couldn't risk missing out!

The Eye & Cheek palette contains six eye shadow shades and two blush shades. It is such a perfect palette for travelling and really compact. Seriously it is not much bigger than an iPhone. It also has a fantastic size mirror in the lid.

The eye shadow shades in this palette are an excellent combination of satin, shimmery and matte. There is also a great combination of light and dark shades and few colours too. Each eye shadow is 1.6g and each blush is 3.3g.

The shadows and blushes are beautifully pigmented. The shadows are also nice and soft and easy to work with. It is great that this palette has different finishes. It makes it a complete palette to create many different looks from.

The eye shadow shades in the left column are:
  • Buff Pearl - champagne satin
  • Tawny Apricot - dusty pink satin
  • Rich Cocoa - matte dark brown

The blush shades are:
  • Rose Desire - cool pink
  • Fresh Peach - pinkish peach with slight shimmer

The eye shadow shades in the right column are:
  • Pale Pink - matte white-pink
  • African Violet - shimmery dark purple
  • Black Plum - matte blackened purple

I have found the blushes last all day on my skin and look beautiful. The choice of colours is just excellent especially for spring. I use the Laura Mercier Eye Basics Primer underneath the shadows and they last all day.

Excuse my dodgy swatching below (I am hopeless at it). The left column is on the left, the blushes in the middle and the right column on the right.

I highly recommend this palette. It is a perfect combination of shades and finishes. The size makes it perfect for taking on the go. It currently retails for AU$60.00 on AdoreBeauty and is limited edition so don't wait too long!

What do you think? Are you a fan of palettes?

Disappointing Products #1

My 'The First 10 Products I Would Repurchase If All My Make Up Disappeared' post inspired me to have a look through my stash and see which products I regret buying (and definitely would not repurchase). Whilst there are some products I would not repurchase, I don't actually regret buying them - they work but just aren't something I am in love with. It was actually quite easy to pick out these products. Most have actually made their way into the overflow box under my bed, because they aren't used.

I have twelve products here, they made their way into this post for various reasons. They don't work, too expensive, horrible smell or taste. In my earlier years of makeup use, I was not as picky as I am now. I now know what I like and what I expect a product to do, that being said I am fair. I don't expect the same things from a $10.00 product as I do a $50.00 product.

Now that I have finished rambling, onto the actual products:

Nude by Nature BB 5-1 Miracle Cream
I have previously done a review of this here. This product just does not work. It doesn't blend onto the skin, it just balls up. I regret buying this as for the $20 it cost, it is useless. It also has a bit of a funny smell - like a fake natural scent.

Nutrimetics Sheer Tint Makeup SPF15
One word - ORANGE! Seriously if I wore this, people would think I was from Jersey Shore. It is meant to be the lightest shade but I don't know anyone who is Light Orange. Another useless product.

Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream
The hype of this product really sucked me in. I used it for a couple of weeks, I thought 'If everyone loves it, I  must be doing something wrong" as I didn't even slightly like it so I persevered, until I just gave up. It just sits on the skin, doesn't set and doesn't blend well. Previous review here.

Benefit Confessions of a Concealaholic
I purchased this when I was first getting into the Benefit brand. The concept is great - a selection of Benefit products, perfect to try before purchasing full size products. There is a couple of problems with this product; it is quite bulky, not all the shades match my skin tone and the actual packaging. It has just a plastic sheet over the top of the concealers which leads to dried out products and then useless products.

Chanel Vitalumiere Cream Compact Foundation
This is the product I regret purchasing the most. I feel like I have thrown $100 out the window, never to be seen again. For me this product is a complete and utter epic FAIL. Full review is here

Maybelline Fit Me Pressed Powder
This is the first pressed powder I ever purchased. Firstly I found it really hard to actually get any product onto the puff or a brush - it is super pressed! Secondly once I actually applied it to the face it was really cakey and unnatural looking.

Maybelline Super Stay Concealer
A horrible concealer, goes on really cakey but fades within 2 hours. It is also really hard to blend. Not even sure how I ended up with this in my stash.

FreezeFrame Instant Lash Mascara
I got this in my Beauty Heaven Beautorium haul back in March. It is one of those fibre mascaras that adds length to your lashes. I found this pretty useless. Firstly it added fibres very randomly making my lashes look very weird. Secondly not many fibres attached to my lashes. Finally, when the mascara flaked during wear the fibres ended up in my eyes and really irritated them.

ModelCo Heated Eyelash Curler
Again, I bought into the hype, I got sucked into the gimmick of a heated curler. I found it useless. Too difficult to use and didn't curl my lashes anyway.

Avon Shine Attract Lipstick
I really loved the idea of these lipsticks, a pigmented lipstick on the inside with a clear moisturizing balm circling it. The colors are really beautiful and I have no problems with the packaging. My problem with them (and it's a deal breaker) is the taste. These taste absolutely disgusting! They are just gross. I cannot stand them.

Essence Lipstick
I can't really regret this too much as it is a cheapie lipstick - under $5.00 (possibly only $2.00). It is just another really bad tasting lipstick plus it feels nasty on the lips. Reviewed in this post.

Covergirl Outlast Lipstain
This is like applying a texta to the lips, not a nice feeling. It applies to the lips really unevenly and is really drying on the lips. Plus it just doesn't look nice on the lips.

What products do you regret buying? Have you tried any of these products? What did you think of them?

BellaBox - September 2012

BellaBox is really on the ball this month! I received my notification email yesterday morning and my box arrived today. Loving the early and fast delivery!

The September BellaBox has a theme of 'Spring in Your Step' and includes a variety of products. Again with a good balance of skincare, hair care, makeup and body care.

September BellaBox contains:

Bioderma Sebium Foaming Gel - 200ml $24.95
Really excited to see some Bioderma products since I love my Crealine H20, this is a 10ml sample of a cleanser. Not sure I will try this though, as it is designed for combination/oily skin and I have normal/dry skin. Seems like quite a small sample but 10ml will give you a few uses.

Bioderma Sebium AKN Purifying Corrective Care - 30ml $24.95
This is a 5ml sample of from what I understand - a spot treatment. It can be used over larger areas or just on individual spots. Will definitely use this - I am not immune to a occasional spot.

You, Me & Everybody Sumptuous Skin Mousse - 75ml $13.99
A full sized product! This seems a little gimmicky - it is a moisturizer in a mousse form! How cool? Readily absorbed, fragrance-free, non-greasy and suitable for the face and body. Really looking forward to trying this - Yes, I am a sucker.

Savoir Faire Concealer Sample Kit - full size $35.00
I have received a full size concealer kit in a previous BellaBox but this will be really handy for travel or the handbag. It contains 4 shades of concealer and finishing powder. Gotta love a makeup product!

Uhaircare Beehold - 150ml $32.00
I received a different sample from this brand in last months box. This time it is a hair product. Beehold is a natural, multi-purpose product that provides body, curl retention, thermal protection and humidity resistance. This is a 30ml sample and it smells pretty nice.

Benefit It's Potent! Eye Cream - 14g $58.00
Really excited to seem some Benefit - I LOVE Benefit. I already use this eye cream and really enjoy it. This is a super cute and generous 3ml sample. It's Potent! is a brightening eye cream that helps reduce dark circles.

Really happy with the quick arrival of this months box - it was super fast and early in the month. There is  a great variety of products and good value. I will use (or at least try) everything in this months box. I was also glad to see some different brands - Bioderma and Benefit.

Also included is a card with a code for $15.00 off at The Iconic. Must spend $69 first though.

What did you receive in your BellaBox? Same or different? What did you think?

The First 10 Products I Would Repurchase If All My Make Up Disappeared!

This is a video theme going around on YouTube. The concept is if all your make up was lost or stolen (a fear of mine!), name the first 10 products you would repurchase. I had thought that it would be really hard to chose just 10 products but despite the size of my collection I found it quite easy. I suppose I have those tried and true products that I just love.

That being said the whole time I was thinking 'this will just be the first 10 products, then I could rebuild my stash'. This doesn't include any tools, I would definitely repurchase eyelash curlers and Real Techniques brushes. Now onto the products I would repurchase...

Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit in Ivory
This is an amazing concealer for dark under eyes (which I suffer from badly), using it instantly brightens my face. It can also double up as a spot concealer when you have nothing else on hand.

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation in BR10 Beige Rose Pastel (Review here)
As my recent review states, this is my Holy Grail foundation. My make up collection is not complete without it. This foundation is just that awesome!

MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural in Light
I love using this powder to set my foundation without making my face look cakey. It can also double up as a light coverage powder foundation.

Nars Powder Blush in Deepthroat
I have loved this peachy-pink blush since I purchased it last year. It is gorgeous with just the right amount of shimmer and really lifts my face when applied.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette (Review here)
I chose this over the original Naked Palette because for some reason I am more attracted to the shades. It has some really nice multi dimensional shades for the eyes, a shade that could be used on brows and nice highlight shade. Otherwise it is a Naked Palette, what more do I need to say?

Nars Larger Than Life Eyeliner in Via Veneto
I love this black eyeliner. It is smooth and easy to apply and lasts all day. It is a true black and even has a sharpener built in.

Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara in Black
I chose this mascara because with one coat you have natural soft looking lashes. Apply a second coat and voom, massive long lashes.

Chanel Illusion D'Ombre in 82 Emerveille (Review here)
I love all my Chanel cream shadows but I reach for this most often. It is great as a simple one colour eye look or can be used as a base for other shadows.

MAC Lipstick in Impassioned
I can't believe I only purchased this a couple of months ago. The colour of this lipstick is amazing and I am so in love with it. Impassioned has fast become a favourite.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in 69 Flirt (Review here)
I am not much of a gloss person, a sheer lipstick is the closest I get. I love Flirt, it is just a perfect soft pop of colour on the lips.

What are the first 10 products you would repurchase? Any the same as mine?

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua - Review

I purchased this foundation back in March when I had my facial at Chanel. I don't know why I am only just getting around to reviewing it. This was my second Chanel foundation and completely different from Perfection Lumiere (my first Chanel foundation).

Vitalumiere aqua is just an amazing foundation. At this time it is my holy grail foundation and amongst my 10 other foundations I reach for this most often.

Vitalumiere aqua has a very natural radiant finish. It blends into the skin seamlessly, no mask like look or feel. It still looks like my skin just a more radiant even version. I am the shade BR10 Beige Rose Pastel which is a perfect match for my skin.

This foundation is a breeze to apply. I have applied it using brushes, sponges and fingers. Each time the result is the same - gorgeous radiant skin. Just make sure you shake the bottle well first - as it is water based. Otherwise you will just get a separated mess of water and pigment.

Excuse the squinty face! Natural lighting, wearing only Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua

I find this foundation to be a light medium coverage, it is definitely build able. It is able to cover any blemishes or redness my skin is experiencing. On my skin it lasts all day, with or without a primer. I also find powder is optional. Some days I use powder, some I don't. Oilier skins may find powder necessary though.

This is my perfect foundation. Medium coverage with a natural finish. It also has SPF15 which is excellent. The SPF can cause some flashback and 'ghost face' though I find it only happens when taking a close up (like below). I love how light this foundation is on my skin. I also like the packaging. It is plastic and a quite small bottle which means travel friendly.

I highly recommend this foundation. I will definitely repurchase it - I don't think my makeup collection would be complete without it. If you haven't tried it you should head to your Chanel counter ASAP to try it! I guarantee you will love it. It is infinitely better than the Vitalumiere Aqua Cream Compact.

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua retails for $77 for 30ml at Chanel.

Celebrating Spring with Minty Fresh Nails

To celebrate that it is now Spring, I decided to paint my nails with a nice bright, pretty colour. This is a polish I picked up at K-Mart a couple of weeks ago for the bargain price of $2.00, I am not even sure what the brand is - BC Co.? This is Shade 16 which as you can see is a gorgeous mint green. I am in love with it. The formula is not so great - needed 3 thin coats to get this colour and it took ages to dry. But for 2 bucks, I cannot complain too much.

I also picked up Shade 14 which is a vibrant purple. I have this on my toenails and it looks gorgeous but I will not be so mean as to share a photo of my feet (I hate my feet).

Are you celebrating Spring? What's on your nails?

August Au Revoirs

It is finally Spring! How excellent is that? I cannot wait for the warmer weather - I am sick of being cold! This winter seems to have been extra cold..

August did not seem me empty many products, a pretty pitiful little line up here:

Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Shampoo & Conditioner
Love this stuff. This is the second lot I have used up and will definitely repurchase it this week. It makes my hair so healthy, shiny and soft. Reviewed here.

Lancome Galateis Douceur
I got this with a Lancome GWP some time last year. It was an alright cleansing milk, nothing to write home about.

Chanel Hydra Beauty Creme
This was a pretty small 5ml sample. I think I got around 3 uses from it. It was a nice hydrating creme. Would consider purchasing in the future (Chanel skincare is just really nice... haha).

What did you finish up in August? Are you excited for Spring?
